PSA for the day: Be aware of price gouging! Yes – it almost happened to us. We know how frustrating it is to be in the process of rebuilding and how easy it can be to go with the first person you talk to. But please get multiple estimates before moving forward. Case in point: the first plumber we contacted quoted us nearly 3 times more than the other companies. Special thanks to Charles Schoop at CheckRite Backflow Service (707)-575-5296 for the fantastic job he did!
Vapor barrier prior to wafflemat foundation
Plastic wafflemat “tubs” being connected by the crew from wafflemat.
New product review: We are loving our wafflemat foundation! This product had every contractor in the neighborhood stopping by to ask about it. This system is truly innovative and we are excited to see it in action! Wafflemat is a foundation forming system that works by creating a pattern of voids on the underside of concrete foundation slabs that absorbs expanding soil. When concrete is poured over the Waffleboxes, it forms deep I-beams in two directions that support the structure directly on the soil and creates a very rigid foundation. This led to a massive reduction in the amount of concrete we will need and actually came in cheaper than a regular foundation. Here is the link for more information www.wafflemat.com
Many special thanks to Plum Electric. Not only did they do a great job but they also braved a random rain storm during a holiday weekend to get it done!
Exciting! Eddinger Plumbing has laid out the plumbing. Things are finally moving along! And speaking of moving along, we applied for the permit at 8:30pm and PRMD had it approved next day.
Finally! Progress is being made! The retaining wall has been poured. This wall will host a floating thermally modified white ash bench and a koi pond. It is French grey, hard troweled with a smooth finish. A special thanks to Eddie’s Concrete. The fence is cypress with horse fence.
