Birch Wood, Hardwood

Birch wood has a cream to light brown tinged with reddish color and with straight-grained wood with fine even texture. Straight-grain lumber works well.

Though it is relative to oak wood, the birch wood is a lot harder than the oak - Heavy and very strong. It takes carbide-tipped saws to effectively cut birch hardwood, and the process often produces smoke and fine sawdust that hangs in the air. However, swirly or uneven grain may be difficult for machine without tearing out.

Hardness scale: birch hardwood ranks at the top with hard-rock maple, which usually mistaken for a maple. Birch hardwood is often used for support or structural used when absolute strength is required, such as in hydraulic presses or other applications that require rock-solid strength.

We have high quality birch hardwood product selections available online or in-store. Please also see and browse other hardwood products from alder hardwood, cherry hardwood, mahogany hardwood, maple hardwood, oak hardwood, poplar hardwood, and walnut hardwood and more.
